Variety is the spice of life is very important that you are able to do the things you want to do and feel confident about trying out new experiences without fear of failure or embarrassment.
When I say 'strength training' I worry that people think about musclebound bodybuilders or obese bearded strongman types. When I talk about strength training I think about being able to produce force in any range of motion in any direction over and over without breakdown of form or fatigue.
Being able to perform a ramrod straight overhead press with perfect posture and a full depth front squat will prepare you far better for most activities then a 20 minute jog on a treadmill or a whole load of bicep curls and crunches ever could. A new martial art, taking up dancing, rock climbing, moving a sofa up a stairwell or chasing toddlers through a soft play area
